The beaches of La Cote Sauvage, La Palmyre, La Grande Cote and St Palais are all connected by 30km of cycle tracks through the forest that borders the coastline, they are safe and peaceful and are  great for exploring the area.

There are many cycle tracks in the area and just 200 meters from Les Lavandes there is a marked cycle route taking you through vineyards, sunflower fields and the village of Etaules. This ride links with another taking you to the Seudre river.

There are more than 12 marked circuits in the area with 4 grades (very easy, easy, difficult, or very difficult) and range from 3km-35km running through the villages on the peninsula, some of them along the coast, others through the Coubre Forest or along the shores of the Seudre Estuary.  Others take you into the heart of the marshes and past the oyster beds.  Cultural heritage and natural beauty spots abound.

A little further afield - The Hillside of the Gironde by bike.  There are almost 350km of signposted trails of between 5 and 38km, some forming a loop, others a longer tour providing the opportunity to enjoy some superb outings in the countryside south of Royan through vineyards, meadows, fields, valleys and lovely villages with magnificent panoramic views of the Gironde estuary.  Information and brochures available from tourist offices.

There are several places in the locality where you can hire bikes.  It really is the best way to see the area. We have facilities for the storage of bikes at all our gites.
